Strengthening Family And Community Engagement In Student Learning Resource
On 20 July 2012 by admin
Strong family and community engagement is central to effective school reform.
The Strengthening family and community engagement in student learning resource is a ‘toolkit’ of practical resources for school communities, designed to be used as part of a school’s planning and improvement cycle.
The outcomes-focussed resource is divided into four sections:
- What is family and community engagement?
- Why is family and community engagement important?
- Steps to strengthen engagement
- Strategies, case studies and resources.
The resource features the new School Assessment Tool (Reflection Matrix) which school communities can use to assess where they are on a continuum of engagement and to prioritise areas for further action. Instructions and proformas guide users through completing the tool.
The resource is best used electronically. All key reference documents and proformas are embedded in the resource as attachments (indicated by the paperclip symbol) so that they can be downloaded just once as a complete set for easy access and printing. The resource also includes hyperlinks to other relevant material when an internet connection is available.
